Karen MacGrath, KMG Physiotherapy

Karen graduated as a physiotherapist from the University of Limerick in 2016 and subsequently achieved a Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy at Hartpury University in the United Kingdom. She is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP), the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) and is registered with CORU. Karen also teaches Mat Pilates from beginner to advanced levels, having been trained by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) in London.

When in the United Kingdom Karen worked with a team of musculoskeletal physiotherapists in a busy private practice located in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. She treats a broad range of musculoskeletal and neuro-musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. She believes in adopting a hands-on approach to treatment, utilising manual therapy such as joint mobilisations and soft-tissue techniques. Karen also prescribes individualised rehabilitation exercises tailored to age, ability and condition/injury.

Karen has a keen interest in sport. She has national medals in hockey and basketball. She has a particular interest in horses and has competed in Eventing at international level. From a young age, she recognised the importance of maintaining fitness and health. Having regularly visited the physiotherapy department as a teenager she fell in love with the profession – particularly the ability to help an individual achieve a desired goal, to improve physical and mental well-being and thereby improve a quality of life.
